【世界文化遺産】..玉陵(たまうどぅん)・・・琉球王国、第二尚氏王統の歴代国王が葬られている陵墓です。・・・.「琉球王国のグスク及び関連遺産群」として世界遺産に登録されていますが、全体が国指定史跡、「玉陵」5棟が国の重要文化財(建造物)に指定されています。

琉球王国、第二尚氏王統の歴代国王が葬られている墓。国王のほかにも親族など葬られている。ただ、第二尚氏王統全員が葬られているわけではない。ちなみに第一尚氏王統(尚巴志など)の墓は、第二尚氏らに見つからないようにひっそりと沖縄の各地にある。第一尚氏王統は第二尚氏の初代国王の尚円王(金丸)のクーデターで滅ぼされた。

昭和47年5月15日に玉陵室石牆が国指定有形文化財建造物に、玉陵は国の指定記念物史跡に指定されました。2000年12月「琉球王国のグスク及び関連遺産群」として世界遺産に登録されました。観覧料は大人300円です。
